CCUUF Summer Schedule

 Sunday, June 9, Noon.  Informal meeting of the new 2013-2014 Board.  There will be an informal meeting of the new board at noon on June 9th.

Sunday, June 23, 10:00 am.  A visit to the UU fellowship in Florence.  Florence UU Fellowship meets through the summer, and has services at 10:00 am at  87738 Hwy 101 at Heceta Beach Road, Florence, OR.  Those interested can join us for a “field trip” to one or our closest UU fellowship neighbors.  If interested in car pooling, contact Brent at brent.burford@gmail.com.

Thursday, June 27, 8:45 am.  Seaweed Field trip at Seal Rock State Park.   Meet at the parking area of the park at 8:45 am, will last until about 11:00.    Led by Gayle Hansen.  She will briefly discuss the history of the area and then venture down to the beach to look at the wide array of seaweed species that occur between the high and low tide levels.   Seaweeds are an important part of the marine ecosystem since they provide food and shelter for many of the near-shore marine animals.  They are also edible for humans, but Oregon Parks and Recreation restricts their collection in public areas like Seal Rock to 1 gallon bucket/person/day (3/year).   The low tide is at 10 am.  The walk will take about 2 hours.  Please wear rubber boots or shoes that can get wet.  Lightweight gloves are useful to avoid scraping your hands if you slip on the rocks.

Sunday, July 7, 10:00 am.  A visit to the UU fellowship in Corvallis.  The Corvallis UU Fellowship meets through the summer with services at 10:00 am.  Those interested can join Brent for a “field trip” to one or our closest UU fellowship neighbors.  If interested in car pooling, contact Brent at brent.burford@gmail.com. The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Corvallis meets at 2945 NW Circle Blvd., Corvallis, OR 97330.

Sunday, Aug 11, 11:30 am.  Summer Social Event.  Meet at 11:30, eat at noon. Gary & Cindy will host their yearly summer social event for the UU fellowship.  A potluck, bring a food item for food, drink, & social time.

Sunday, August 18, 2:00 pm. Picnic for the Welcoming Congregations of Lincoln County. Hosted by Oregon Central Coast PFLAG. Picnic to be at The picnic will be held at the Yaquina Bay State Park, located at the NW corner of the Hwy 101 crossing the Yaquina River in Newport, in the picnic area south of the Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.

Sunday, September 8, 10:15 am. Fellowship weekly Sunday meetings resume at the Visual Arts Center.
Weekly fellowship meetings will resume after Labor day and will be  Sundays 10:15 a.m.–12:00 noon, Visual Arts Center, 2nd Floor, Nye Beach Turnaround, 777 Northwest Beach Drive, Newport, Oregon.
