Schedule of Programs
October 2. Defining Myself Through Metaphor. An interactive presentation, led by our new Lay Minister Sue Wilkins. Through writing and discussion clarify your thoughts of self in a safe and sharing environment. The first of a four Sunday excursion into defining self, personal beliefs and how they fit within the UU context.
October 9. Defining My Beliefs.Sometimes we tend to sidestep the question “What do I believe?”? A Presentation by Sue Wilkins, Debbie Dypold, & Brent Burford exploring convictions that direct our lives with plenty of time for discussion and sharing.
October 16. Unitarian Universalist History. Come explore the history of Unitarian Universalism. A guided tour by Sue Wilkins who has recently completed a fascinating course on our theological roots. Of course, plenty of time for questions and discussion.
October 23. Defining Our Beliefs. After 3 sessions of exploring self, beliefs and our shared UU history, we’ll try to fit those pieces together attempting to define our common ground as compared to the greater church of the Unitarian Universalists—Where do we fit in? What difference does it make? Whom do we serve? To whom are we responsible? This final of four sessions, Sue Wilkins will guides us through presentation and animated discussion.
October 30. A Really Scary Halloween Tale: The Death Penalty. Attorney Brent Burford not only looks at the arguments for and against the death penalty, but also the ethical and practical considerations. With political candidates mentioning their states’ executions with pride, with crowds at political rallies cheering at the mention of executions, how should we respond? As usual, time for respectful and non-judgmental discussion.
