Sunday, January 1. The Fellowship does not meet this Sunday. Sunday, January 8, 10:15 am. Jeanne St. John, president of Oregon Central Coast PFLAG, will speak at CCUUF about OCC-PFLAG and its goals. Sunday, January 15, 10:15 am.. Steve Isaacson, a retired professor and dean at Portland State University will speak at CCUUF from the institutional welcoming aspect and equality of marriage and how it was accepted by his Episcopal Church. Sunday, January 22, 10:15 am. Teresa Atwill, the faculty sponsor of the local high school Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) and the student who is president of that group will speak at CCUUF about the GSA, its obstacles, and what differences it has made. Sunday, January 29, 10:15 am. Reatha Ryan, a mental health nurse practitioner in Newport and OCC-PFLAG member will speak at CCUUF about the effects of bullying and ostracization on LGBT youth. —————————————————————— Additional Activities and Notes
Sunday, January 8. Second Sunday Book Exchange. Have a book you no longer need but think others might want? Bring it to give to others in the fellowship. We have a “book exchange” at the fellowship on the Second Sunday of each month. Any books that you have that you wish to give away to others in the fellowship to read, bring the second Sunday. Maximum of five books.
Wednesday, January 11, 7:00 pm. OCC PFLAG: Oregon Central Coast PFLAG holds its monthly meetings at 7:00 pm on the second Wednesday of each month, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 9th & Hurbert Streets, Newport. Their website is at http://occpflag.org/
Wednesdays. 6:00 pm. Benefaction Zen (Meditation) Community. Zen meditation is held weekly at 6:00 pm at the Yurt on SE John Nye Rd. Silent sitting and walking meditation with chants, reading/talk about practice, and optional bowing practice. Free, but donations will be accepted to cover expenses.
