Programs for   February 2012

 Sunday, February 5, 10:15 am.  ”   Second Chances and Other Life Miracles”  Tony Ogden, musician,   writer and parent,  shares not only his close calls with death but his   recent clinical death experience. Through presentation, music and discussion   come share with our lay led fellowship.

Sunday, February 12, 10:15 am.  Annie   Miller’s dual residency of both Oaxaca, Mexico and Newport has led her   interests to native cultures. In a two session sequence we will look at two   indigenous cultures who maintain identity while integrating with today.   “Silvestre Pantaleon”, a film showing the heart of community   through healing, handwork and food will be shown for the first time on the   West Coast and only the second time in United States.

Sunday, February 19, 10:15 am.  Annie   Miller, dual resident of both Oaxaca, Mexico and Newport, continues to lead   us in a look at indigenous culture and identity preservation.    Discussion and presentation continues with a look at the history  of the   Yaquina tribe.

Sunday, February 26, 10:15 am.  Sandra   Ellston, 35 year professor of Shakespeare, imparts her insights on   “Shakespeare and Spirituality”.

 Wednesday, February 8, 7:00 pm.  OCC PFLAG:     Oregon Central Coast PFLAG holds its monthly meetings at 7:00 pm on   the second Wednesday of each month, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 9th   & Hurbert Streets, Newport. Their website is at  http://occpflag.org/

 Saturday, February 11, 2:00-4:00 pm.  Love is Love   Valentine Party.  Sponsored by OCC-PFLAG and Lincoln County Welcoming   Congregations.  Oregon Coast Community College Commons, 400 SE 40th   St, South Beach, Oregon. Admission is free but donations are welcome and should   be payable to PFLAG-OCC.

 Sunday,  February 12. Second Sunday Book   Exchange.   Have a book you no longer need but   think others might want?  Bring it to give to others in the fellowship.    We have a “book exchange” at the fellowship on the Second Sunday of   each month.  Any books that you have that you wish to give away to   others in the fellowship to read, bring the second Sunday. Maximum of five   books.

 Sunday, February 19, 12:15 pm.  Third Sunday Fellowship   Lunch.  Location to be determined.  

 Saturday, March 3.  Memorial for Robin   Nelson, South Beach Community Center.

 Wednesdays. 6:00 pm.  Benefaction Zen (Meditation)   Community.   Zen meditation is held weekly at 6:00 pm at the   Yurt on SE John Nye Rd.  Silent sitting and walking meditation with   chants, reading/talk about practice, and optional bowing practice.    Free, but donations will be accepted to cover expenses.  For further   information call Jean Fredrickson 541-875-4488 home, 503-899-7517 cell.
