Summer 2012 Calendar

    CCUUF Summer Calendar 2012 

A welcoming and liberal spiritual   community in Lincoln County, Oregon since 1984 .

** We do not meet weekly during   the summer. We will resume weekly Sunday morning fellowship services after   Labor Day. **

CCUUF – Summer Activities

**No Sunday morning fellowship meetings at the Visual Arts   Center during the summer.  We resume regular Sunday meetings September   9. **

 Saturday,   June 9. 9:00-11:00 am.   Summer Farmer’s Market Welcoming   Congregation Table.   PFLAG – Oregon Central Coast  &   the local Welcoming Congregations host an information table at the summer   farmer’s market once Saturday per month. For June this Saturday will be June   9th. Volunteers are needed to host the tables. If you are willing to   volunteer, please contact Jeanne St. John at pflagocc@gmail.com

 Saturday,   June 16, 3:00 pm.  A celebration of Ann Krinsley’s life is will be   June 16th, 3:00-5:00 in Eugene, Oregon.  Ann passed away March 8,   2012. A small service will be held in Ann’s memory with a light buffet and   punch with coffee and tea. Ann is a former CCUUF member.

 Sunday,   July 8 or 15   (firm date TBA later).  CCUUF summer social event at the home of  Gary & Cindy.

 Saturday,   July 14.  9:00-11 am or 11:00-1:00 pm.  Mon-Fri, July 16-20, 8:30   am – 4:00 pm.  Peace Village will be taking place the   week of July 16th.   CCUUF is a co-sponsor.     We are looking for volunteers to take on many and varied roles. We need   teachers for ecology and non-violent conflict resolution (morning hours, all   week.) We need age group leaders (full time, these are the folks who the kids   get to know the most during the week.) We need leaders and helpers for   afternoon activities such as storytelling, music, crafts, games or other   ideas (flexible hours.) Folks to help with snacks and lunch (10-1ish.)   Someone to staff the registration table and coordinate late/ early arrivals/departures,   as well as call parents for sick or injured kids (flexible hours.)  Sunday, July 22, 8:00 am.  A field trip to   look at the Seaweeds of Seal Rock led by CCUUF member Gayle Hansen.   Meet at 8:00 am in the parking lot for the park.  Wear boots or shoes   that you can get wet.

Summer Grief and End of Life   Series

Friday, June 15, Noon to 1:30 p.m.  Grief 101.    A free lecture series designed for caregivers and those experiencing   grief.  Sponsored by Samaritan Pacific Health Services Chaplain. Series   led by The Rev. Brenda S. Wills, M.Div., Chaplain at Samaritan.   

     June 15th   presentation: “Healing Words: Poetry and Medicine ” – Stories of   patients whose lives have been dramatically changed as a result of Dr. John   Graham-Pole and poetry therapist John Fox’s incorporation of poetry into   their recovery process.  (taped lecture).  Will be held at the   Samaritan Pacific Patient Financial Services conference room, 705 SE Coast   Hwy, Newport (enter east door from parking lot).

 Saturday,   June 23, 8:30-11:30 am. End-of-Life Workshop.   A   workshop being held at the First Presbyterian Church in Newport on Saturday,   June 23rd.  Northwest Parish Nurse Ministries (NPNM) and   South Lincoln County Parish Nursing are sponsoring the event. The Presenter   is Gretchen Brauer-Rieke R.N., MSN, a certified Advance Care Planning   Facilitator, come and share with us regarding End-of-Life Decisions.    The morning session from 8:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. will be open to the public as   well as to Faith Community Professionals (Clergy, Parish Nurses, Stephen   ministers).  Lunch will be available at the church.  The afternoon   session from 12 noon – 2:30 p.m. will be for Faith Community Professionals   only.  The cost for the public is $10/person or $15/couple with the   optional lunch at $5/person.  The public may register by calling Karen   Wright: (541) 961-2557.  The cost for Faith Professionals is $25/person   which includes a book, handouts, and lunch.  Faith Professionals may   register through NPNM either by calling Christy Lee at: (503) 413-4137 or   registering in the online store at: www.npnm.org.

Wednesdays. 6:00 pm.  Benefaction Zen (Meditation)   Community.   Zen meditation is held weekly at 6:00 pm at the   Yurt on SE John Nye Rd.  Silent sitting and walking meditation with   chants, reading/talk about practice, and optional bowing practice.    Free, but donations will be accepted to cover expenses.  For further   information contact Jean Fredrickson, tel. 541-224-3713, email: jeanconnect@aol.com
